This power class contains many classic amplifiers that have been in a significant role in popular music from late 50's.

Especially British manufacturers such as VOX and Marshall have risen to fame in the 60's and have been very popular even in North America.

The most significant manufacturer in North America has of course been Fender.

The power amp is normally implemented with 4 or 2 power tubes. VOX AC30 is using 4 EL84 while Marshall uses an EL34 pair in its 50W amplifiers. Fender normally uses 2 or 4 6L6 power tubes.

All the features you can have in the smaller amplifiers can also be implemented in these amplifiers.

Many of these amplifiers have fixed-bias excluding VOX AC30-based amplifiers such as Matchless and Dr.Z. VOX AC50 uses EL34 pair as power tubes while the classic Fender Bassman uses either 6L6 or 5881 pair.
